The following may be attributed to David Goodfriend, Chairman of the Board, Sports Fans Coalition:

"Today, on behalf of the Sports Fans Coalition (SFC) Board of Directors, I grudgingly accepted the resignation of one of our founding Board members, Brad Blakeman. It was grudging because I adore Brad. We have known each other since we started debating politics on TV almost a decade ago. Brad is my business partner and friend. We might disagree on politics but we always agree that it's better to discuss and debate.

Brad submitted his resignation from the Sports Fans Coalition Board because SFC issued a statement about NFL players kneeling during the National Anthem without consulting Brad or other Board members prior to releasing the statement. He is right. I was wrong. In my capacity as Chairman of the Board, I should have circulated the statement for review and approval of the Board before it was issued. For that mistake, I apologize to Brad and to the entire Sports Fans Coalition Board. It will not happen again.
