Cleveland Baseball Team Changes Name
Cleveland's baseball team announced that they would change their team name from the Cleveland Indians to the Cleveland Guardians going into effect at the end of the 2021 baseball season. This is a change a year in the making since it was announced back in 2020 the intention to change the team's name in the wake of the George Floyd protests and other major sports teams changing their names, like the Washington Football team.

The Oakland Athletics may have finally figured out where they want to put their new stadium, but building it is going to be no small feat. The team’s desired spot is a choice chunk of land in central Oakland, overlooking beautiful Lake Merritt and right next to Laney College. Actually getting the land will require convincing its owner — the Peralta Community College District — to sell, as well as getting the city of Oakland to help out with infrastructure upgrades. But, for the A’s, all that trouble may be very much worth it. The team is going to privately fund its new stadium, and it believes the Peralta location is its best bet to do so.

2012 Most Valuable Policy Maker, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA 1st), was shot yesterday morning at a congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, VA. Other victims include a staffer, Capitol police, and a lobbyist. Scalise remains in critical condition this morning and will continue to undergo surgery.
