Secondary Resale Means Big Savings for Sports Fans!
The Sports Fans Coalition's Fan Savings Widget tracks real ticket market data across more than 180 professional sports teams in seven leagues covering every major U.S. state and Canadian province from 2021 through 2025. The data tells a story that the big ticketing monopolies don't want fans to hear: the secondary market saves fans money.
Over and over again, fans are finding tickets below face value on the resale market, putting hundreds of millions of dollars back in their pockets instead of into the coffers of teams and primary ticket sellers.
The secondary market creates competition, and competition drives prices down. When politicians talk about capping prices on the secondary market, they're not protecting fans, they're protecting the monopoly and their allies that keep ticket prices high and lock ordinary fans out of the ballpark.
Price caps kill competition, shrink supply, and hand back pricing power to the same teams and venues that have been gouging fans for years. The data in this widget shows what a free and open ticket market can do for fans. The question is whether lawmakers will protect it.
